FYI
Imus is NO more sexist, racist, bigoted, obnoxious, off color, or rooted in delusion than TRIV.

Sanjaya has been riding the American Idol train a tad too long.

Neither are NEWS! However, Imus/Sanjaya were the top stories on every single channel, every hour, on thee hour.

Trust me, we all need a pleasant distraction from the REAL news...

In a stunning breach of security, the deadliest-ever attack in the American guarded, Baghdad Green Zone has occurred.
Several IRAQI parliament members, were killed/blown up during lunch in the cafeteria yesterday afternoon.

Also yesterday, a major bridge linking east/west Baghdad plunging into the Tigris River, killing at least 20 people.

49 Americans have been added to the Iraq Coalition casualty count this month.

The 145,000 Americans that have managed to survive thus far, have just had their tours extended...AGAIN!

10:52 AM
Blogger Mr. Webster said...

(CBS) A well-placed law enforcement source tells CBS News the weapons used in the massacre were a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun and .22-caliber pistol.

semi-automatic--pull the trigger, it fires--Who needs that?

Who sings the song Melinda sang last night?

4:33 PM
Blogger Mark said...

Hey Mr. Web.

All do respect, but with ANY gun (provided it's loaded and functioning properly)--pull the trigger-it fires. Pretty much the fundamental idea behind any firearm.

I realize the kid used semi-auto weapons, but you mentioned "automatic." BIG difference. I was confused.

If the kid would've walked in w/ 8 loaded revolvers in a backpack and shot the place up, people would be calling for a ban on revolvers.

Blah...

4:55 PM
Blogger Mr. Webster said...

Sounds like a good idea.

5:21 PM
Blogger Mark said...

OK. While we're at it, you can't say what you want to say nor can you believe what you want to believe.

We'll just rip up the entire constitution.

Does that sound like a good idea also?

Ugh...

6:44 PM
Blogger Mr. Webster said...

Why can't you believe what you want to believe? Wow, where do you live?

Have you seen the Cho video? Should nuts like him be able to buy guns? Why do you think we have more murders than anywhere else.

7:49 PM
Blogger Mark said...

Using your line of reasoning, Tim, we wouldn't be able to believe what we want to believe anymore. The same document that affords everybody the right to freedom of religion is THE VERY document that affords everybody the right to own a firearm.

You can't just tear the Bill of Rights apart bit by bit and pick and choose which rights suit your needs. By abolishing one, you're abolishing the underlying integrity of the entire Constitution.

Maybe we should ban ALL guns like England did. Then our crime rate can rise 35% IN ONE YEAR too.

Sounds like a dandy idea...

I know it's partially human nature to do so, but why must we always search for somebody or something to blame? Why can't we just take a horrible incident like this for what it is? A VERY sick and disturbed individual who committed an unthinkable atrocity.

It wasn't our gun laws (or lack thereof in some eyes), it wasn't his XBOX or the tunes on his IPOD or the last killer, stalker, thriller, slasher movie he saw... HE WAS CRAZY!!!

It's happened a million times before, it happened Tuesday, and unfortunately, it's going to happen again.

I apologize for the rant.... And, please, Tim, know that this wasn't directed at you. Just had some things to get off my chest after the media blitz I've absorbed over the last few days.

;-}~~~

Blogger Mrs. Webster said...

April 19, 007

Hmmmm...a similar spirited conversation was waiting for me when I walked in the door last night.
Fortunately, Mr. Webster and I landed on middle ground BEFORE American Idol.

Challenging an American History major/teacher on what the Constitution and Bill of Rights actually says regarding guns is a formidable task. LOL!

BTW: My experience with Mr. Webster,...it will NOT be a conversation about; the "bearing arms articles" that have been tweaked in modern day history through legal opinions only.

Blogger Mrs. Webster said...

8:13 AM
Blogger Mr. Webster said...

Mark--I understand your frustration. It makes you feel helpless in the face of such insanity. Isn't it also insane to give people like him access to any firearms at all? It took him ten minutes to be approved! Come on!

6:37 PM
Blogger Mark said...

I know. You're so right, Tim. I truly do feel helpless. SOMETHING has to be done... I'm just so NOT a fan of these "one bad apple" laws. Where do they end? Don't sell booze because somebody will drink and get behind the wheel. Don't sell cars because people who drink booze will drive.

Everybody has lost a sense of responsibility. The "blame game" is the way to go these days. Got drunk, drove, killed a car full of kids??? It's the bar's fault. They should've cut me off. Bought a couple handguns and shot up a school? It's because we have soft gun laws. It's the gun dealer's fault. It's the teachers' faults. It's the school administration's fault. It's the campus police's fault.

HOW BOUT IT'S THE (oh I want to use the F-word so bad, but I respect your blog, Web...lol) F'N KID'S FAULT WHO PULLED THE TRIGGER???!!!???

WAHHHHH!!!! They laughed at me. WAAAHHHH!!!! They made fun of me.

Welcome to life, punk. Sometimes it sucks!!!

You're 1000000% right about that, Web.

If Omar doesn't get into the Hall, they better pull Ozzie Smith's a$$ outta there!

Good Morning!

It's the last day of spaghetti tree month and Willie Nelson's birthday...he's 74.

A Laredo double header at ACE's brings the "guests" out...LOL!
More interesting than the debate on whether or NOT, Laredo has worn out its welcome with customers VS the management...

The unaddressed issues with the ladies room. A TOP venue should NOT have Fat Boy's bathrooms...PERIOD!

Call me cynical...bodily waste and buffet should NOT occur in the same sentence.

Blogger Molly said...

Web, I will say this - I stopped in at Fat Boys on Sat. night and lo and behold, their ladies room was CLEANER than the one at Ace's. Hard to believe but true.
