The Frank Dunch page is just that...the Frank Dunch page. I have copied and pasted the posts prior to the annoucement and those that have little to do with his rememberance during the mourning period...

The death of Frank Dunch has changed the landscape of Cleveland Country for the rest of my lifetime.

Yes, I agree, you spoke out of turn. The pot is plenty stirred up, from umpteen angles. It's been sitting on the stove for a week.

I am NOT really interested in cutting YOU or anyone else ANY slack.
YOUR grief is NOT worse than anyone else's, and does NOT pardon your behavior...NOT here.

It is my assertion, that my email is the TRUE barometer of the Cleveland country music scene.

NOMINATE FRANK DUNCH
We all agree...he was the BEST!

Cleveland Country musicians, bands, fans, foes, friends and extended family agree...Frank was the best!

Cleveland country does NOT agree on much...except Frank Dunch and the LOVE of country music.
We loved the sounds he made....he made Cleveland country...God love him!

He should have been nominated for this award on an individual basis when he was alive...somehow he was overlooked. Frank Dunch was an AWESOME guitarist in all genres...PERIOD!

Frozen in time at age 42...
The King of Rock and Roll/Rockabilly would be celebrating his 72nd birthday on Monday.

Mr. Webster loves to tell the story of the first time he saw Elvis on television (1956).
He was seven years old...by the following weekend he had a guitar. He would board a Toledo city bus (alone) and travel across town to be mentored/taught by Dave Yorko of Johnny and The Hurricanes.

Coincidently, The Beatles opened for Johnny and The Hurricanes. YES...I got that right, (1961 or 62) The Beatles opened for Johnny and The Hurricanes in Hamburg, Germany

So...the pleasant distraction for tomorrow is ELVIS. His memory is reverent at our house. Ya know...since GRACELAND, Mr. Webster is a different man.

Believe in tomorrow and what it can bring,

I didn't get it to EVERYONE personally, Frank's death shifted my focus, my memories and prayers.

I have updated the "LEFT" thread. Disclaimer: if your disdain meter is set at HATING the people that bash the president/CEO/Commander and Chief or detest the IRAQ policies. You won't be happy with the content...opposing views are welcome.

Good Morning!
Tuesday...already?
Monday was a blur...all day software training. I am ramping up for a brand new senior housing development.

The blog will be off-line for several hours today. NOT that it matters...no one cares!

Yes...that is the best picture of Les Paul, I could find.

No...I am NOT responding to emails, there is at least one already circulated and has been returned to me.

NO...I do NOT forward your emails. They are safe with me.

YES...I save the good ones for a rainy day.

NO...It is NOT the year of the Longhorn. NOT by my calendar.

YES...I STILL read all the band websites, blogs, guestbooks, and MySpaces.

YES...I have heard and read, Blue Moose is changing their line-up for Wednesday nights.

YES...ACE's is still the BEST country venue. NEVER said it wasn't. DAH!

Another day...another NEW firewall. The lengths a woman will go to preserve words.

The NEW year got off to such a rough start. Don't know about you, but I am still mourning.
I wish it would go away, but it won't.

I am glad I told Frank he was the best...told him Lawless Don was a very very very very very close second.

I encouraged Frank to go out and see Lawless Don play.
I assured him, it would be worth it...don't know if he ever did.

Ya know...I am glad I told Frank the truth.
I am NOT at peace with his death...even though I embrace the concept that he does.
His peace will be everlasting.
He deserves everlasting PEACE.
He sought it, he talked it and God
love him, he walked it.

When the call came...New Year's Day, I was right in the middle of a Frank thought, responding to SOMEONE as to why I was so unfavorable to Laredo, and why I don't publish their "concert/tour" schedule.

For the umpteenth time, they asked me NOT to.

I've told the truth, and withheld the truth. Frank's death poured salt unto the earth.

Frank had a great sense of humor about all the "hoop-las"...
I am saving, what he said for a rainy day.

NOT sure what Mr. would say...NEVER do, he said "Take me to the Country" ! So...I did!

As for me, I am still mourning. Prayerful for the people that loved Frank, and miss him.
I told SOMEONE today; "I wish we would have had the opportunity to sit around in a room and mourn Frank together." Maybe...I should have it out here in the country.

I am still too sad to tell all, or comment on everything...

Still playing catch up from the first of the year.

Frank died...and time sorta stopped.
New Year's Day 007 was NOT a good day.
The optimism of a fresh new year has fallen by the wayside.
I had it New Year's Eve. I have NOT been able to tap into that optimism yet...but I want it.

I am wondering out loud if "Anthony" is convicted enough about his choice for the BEST guitarist, to have nominated Brad, from Kentucky Thunder, for the Free Times Music Awards...instead of just posting Frank was OK, and didn't deserve an elevation in status because of his death.

Frank Dunch not getting nominated for the Free Times awards is more than just a shame. It bothers me. There was a window of opportunity, and Cleveland country fans blew it. How many votes would it take to get a nomination and make the top 5?

The Tabloid Twangers managed to get nominated, they had practically fallen off the face of the earth until recently. Hillbilly Idol has had about three gigs in the past 6 months, same for Hayshaker Jones.

has signed with Nashville-based independent record label Adobe Road.

Good Lord...Mark and I disagree again!

Miranda Lambert...marginal success?
The girl didn't even WIN Nashville Star.

Signed to MAJOR label...SONY.
She toured with Keith Urban, George Straight, and will tour with Toby Keith this year.

Kerosene debuted at # 1 on the country charts, and has since been certified GOLD.

Miranda, at the ripe old age of 23, has been nominated by the CMA for the BEST video and the HORIZEN award twice, the ACA for BEST New female artist, and a Grammy this year.

So Web... Check out Buddy Jewel's accomplishments... Where the record debuted, how many hits, what tours he did, who he's opened for, etc... And tell me... Where is he now?

Miranda will join him in that same abyss soon enough... Don't you worry. She just got a later start.

Have any of these reality show contestants had any staying power whatsoever? They basically get their 15 minutes and fade.

10:47 AM
Blogger Mrs. Webster said...

Mark and I AGREE...on Buddy Jewel.

Miranda got an EARLY start...23 YO VS 47 YO. She has plenty of time to recreate herself to appeal to the masses again and again. NOT gonna happen for Buddy.

Miranda is still with her MAJOR label...Buddy was dumped in O5.

Miranda has been nominated by every entity representing the music industry...Buddy was NOT.

Staying power...NOT so sure.
In my estimation/opinion, there are only a handful of artists in history that have sustained the masses for years and years.

11:50 AM
Blogger Mark said...

Hey Web... I bet it literally pained your fingers to type the word "agree" in relation to something I posted...haha.

I think tons of artists/bands have sustained the masses for years. Unfortunately, most of them aren't in the country genre. There's more turnover in the country realm than in some local bands!

And really, if you think about it... There are a bunch of country artists who have been around for years that keep on keepin' on. Take Tracy Byrd, for instance... He's never been a MEGA star, but he's been solid. He's been around since like '94. 13 yrs... That's a lifetime in the music biz. He's "sustained the masses" in a sense. There are literally DOZENS of artists/bands at his level who are consistently putting out albums and touring w/ some level of success.

Sustaining the masses doesn't necessarily mean at a superstar status... They can simply be solid performers who release solid records throughout their career.

Will you at least give me that?

12:09 PM
Blogger Mark said...

Oh, and by the way, Web... I had to look something up because I had a feeling that you were incorrect. This is from the Buddy Jewell website:

"He earned major award nominations from the ACM for Best New Artist, the CMA for the Horizon Award, CMT Flameworthy Breakout Video and a Grammy nomination for his participation in Amazing Grace III a special gospel project.

12:11 PM
Blogger Mrs. Webster said...

Yes sir...I will, NOT the least bit painful.

I was wrong.
I have been corrected by Mark regarding Buddy Jewel's industry recognition and we AGREE on his 15 minutes of fame.

Tracy Byrd does have staying power for those of us that love country...however he isn't exactly on the upward swing of his career.
The Funky Frog is NOT exactly the pinnacle of success.

I was thinking "super star" status
with regard to a handful of artists that have been able to sustain generations of fans.

12:44 PM
Blogger Mark said...

And I agree w/ you, Web. You are correct when you qualify your previoius statement w/ the "superstar" status parameter. There really are only a handful of those performers floating around. Unfortunately, half of them are dead now...haha.

ACE's guestbook

Same karma...different forum.
I posted the obvious to the ACE's guestbook. The end result could have been predicted.

I LOL at the guest posters pretending NOT to read the blog and assigning bad karma.
Ya see...I don't pretend NOT to read all the forums pertaining to Cleveland country music.

ACE's is an AWESOME venue. The idea that I have ever deviated from that assessment is terribly skewed and manufactured misinformation.

Cleveland Country Blogspot has vigorously supported ACE's since it opened.
Mrs. Webster's MySpace has featured ACE's in "Top Friends" multiple times.

Recently, I requested ACE's to "banner me" on my MySpace for the Curtis Brothers and Foot's birthday...they didn't.
I suggested ACE's lose the cheesy photo on MySpace and go to their logo for optimized recognition...they didn't.
I asked ACE's to provide something other than Ice House hearsay about the New Year's Eve debacle...they didn't. I did NOT go bantering to their guestbook after Rossi's post here.

My only REAL issue with the place is children in the club. Women drinking with small children in tow is NOT a good idea. A common sense business policy. I am NOT talking about tweens line dancing with their parents. I'm talking about 5 year olds....

Our karma is fine...since ya all found somewhere else to blather about the greatness of Laredo. PERIOD!

Blogger Mrs. Webster said...

The ACE's thing...

I am still miffed at this Rossi character...but continue to support his establishment.

The idea that our bloggers called the liquor police over Laredo is flippen absurd! Did anyone tell Rossi that the Laredo/campers are regular readers of clevelandcountry.blogspot.com.
Maybe it was one of them...

"SOMEONE" at The ICEHOUSE said "SOMETHING".
I sent whynner to The ICEHOUSE bout a month ago.

BTW It is well documented and within public access that the liquor police were out everywhere issuing warnings about SUNDAY liquor/NYE...

ACE's received a notice/general memo prior to their on-site visit outlining the rules and stipulations of a SUNDAY liquor license.

Warnings were issued well in advance of New Year's Eve.
It was their own mismanagement of standard operating procedures that caused the NYE cancellation.

Again...the venue is great, food is good, great dance floor, neato stage, clean bathrooms, staff is pleasant, No cover, great parking....yada yada yada.

I mean I have said these things over and over and over again to the point of being ridiculed for my favoritism towards ACE's...by the Laredo camp.

My ONLY real complaint is NOT just my complaint.

Simon, Simon, Simon - Did it ever occur to you that someone's feeding you a line? Don't be so gullible. Sara and Jen are sadly mistaken. Actually, I don't think I even know a Jen so not sure where she gets off pointing any fingers. Maybe to shift the focus off herself onto someone else? Perhaps. As for Sara, barely know her but she's always pleasant. Just an acquaintance with terrible "guessing" qualities it seems. Then again, not even sure this would be the same Sara since so many people are afraid to actually reveal themselves in public. It's a game and you're all playing it. However, I've been slammed before and I'm not afraid of anyone. I still come out to see most of the bands and I'm certainly not afraid to be seen. Can the rest of you say the same? Nope, you can't because most of you are still hiding behind fake names. I'm not this person calling herself/himself Tracey. If I have something to say, I'll post under Pat or Molly, one and the same person. The people who actually matter the most know the truth. Everyone else can just, in the words of Aaron Tippin, "Kiss this!"

Simon, I honestly didn't think it was you but one never knows. I do recall that you retired the FS name and thought the post was kind of odd. Especially since they keep going on about a WEBMASTER...not even the correct term. I'm still not sure I've MET a "Jen". But that's unimportant. IF it is SOMEONE playing/instigating this b.s., that would be very interesting seeing as SOMEONE was one of a only a handful that I actually knew on meatball night.

Lawless & Kentucky Thunder don't need the validation of their fans. The other band needs their egos stroked constantly. That, and the fact that they want Ace's to think they're just an awesome band so they can continue to get the preferential treatment of two consecutive gigs on the weekend.

11:28 AM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

Molly - I didn't feel like writing the damn thing any more. LOL

The bottom line is not size of the crowd! How much does the crowd drink? That's the bottom line. Playing these bars isn't going to get any of us anywhere. Some foolishly focus on bar gigs and catering to a particular crowd. Bad business sense!

Lawless could play 4 nights a week if we want. I don't want to play bars 4 nights a week any more. If it's a new club in new territory, back to backers don't bother me. I WANT a night off on the weekend damn near every week anymore. I get more time at home with my kids that way. I hardly ever go out if I'm not gigging.

Damn near every bar owner has talked to us about what a pain in the ass "some" folks are, or literally how bad "some" folks are. Hell, "some" folks are a running joke in the circuit and don't even know it themselves.

Notice that the same 4 people plus the band members themselves are the only ones hitting up guest books with religious praise. Hell, they might as well get on there and post: "thank sis, thanks mom, thanks dad, thanks ME".

It's all a pathetic, pathetic joke. Anyone with ears and eyes knows better. Ask a musician his opinion, not someone counting "1,2,3,4 turn, kickball change". That's NOT a slam on dancers either, they just don't know any better because they're busy trying to not run each other over.

That's all for now!
