who is this band playing at Hall of Famers on Saturday? Trailer Choir. who are they? Laredo is the opening act.

They're a band on Toby Keith's record label. A bigger deal being made out of it than it actually is. Much ado about nothing but some folks like to play up anything they can. I do believe the show is SUPPOSED to be about Trailer Choir and exposure for THEM.

Thor-This is from the Trailer Choir web site.

"Trailer Choir's songs are about livin' life and drinkin' a cold beer with your best friends (and the brand new ones you just met).
You can simply describe a Trailer Choir show in 3 words, "BESTUBIOUS". So come hang out with us & rock it off the Hillbilly Hook!"

They're going on tour with Toby Keith right after Hall of Famers. You can take that any way you want.

Randy Orton is 28 today.

1979- The cable channel, Nickelodeon goes on the air.

1963 - The soap opera General Hospital has its TV debut.

Now I'm sure THAT'S the kind of exposure Trailer Choir actually wants and needs. Probably opening for TK at Blossom...way more exposure than Hall of Famers. BTW, the bar seems to not be doing such a great business these days. Haven't seen more than a dozen cars out front most evenings I've been by. Brooklyn Ace's is sorely missed....

All those large venues! Why bother with a little bar in tiny Brooklyn, OH? The travel expenses alone would make it seem to be not even worthwhile. But, what do I know? LOL

I think you might be right molly, I heard that Hall of Famers is going to close. I am not sure if it is by their choice or not, but I heard otherwise. I also agree, Aces is missed. I went into Hall of Famers a couple of times and it just does not have the same feel that Aces had.

Well Molly...it was BROKE, financially.

Lots of "stories" about the formerly known as ACE's/Brooklyn management and or "owners".

ACE's/Mentor is gone, gone, gone.
It melted before the snow.

My source swears Hall of Famers is bout to face a similar fate.

Saturday night the North Ridgeville Ace's was too packed to get in. The band,Victory Blvd., plays classic rock and R&B. See why I'm better off with the blues?

Emmylou Harris is 61.

Rodney King is 43.

All of the stories that are about the old owners of aces, stem from the new owners. I heard a few of them that I know are not true. Rumor has it that the old owners may take it back over. very reliable source as well. I personally, have had many fun nights at Aces. Like I said before, I went into Hall of Famers a couple of times and I did not stay long because of the atmosphere. I know that the old owners did everything that they could to keep the place going and I hope they do take it back and make it like it was before. (Good food and good entertainment).

10:38 AM
Blogger Molly said...

Thor, I hope your source is correct! I had quite a lot of fun at Brooklyn ACES and of course, it's soooo close to my house, I loved the convenience. The former owners spent a good deal of money trying to improve the place and adding things to make it all that it could be! Of course, I'll never understand why they couldn't/wouldn't do something about that ladies' room! Between Villa and Ace's, it was Friends and then Pacer's and both places bombed. It was just great to see something thrive in that location. Rent in that strip is crazy high though and if they were spending it faster than it was coming in, that could've been part of the problem. I did go by last night after grocery shopping and did count 14 cars out front. Good night for those Hall of Famers! LOL

I went by Hall of famers last night and it was locked up solid. I made some calls and to my understanding, it will not be open tonight for the concert. I heard that the new owners have not made any payments to the old owners and they locked the doors yesterday. As to the fate of the place, it is yet to be determined.

I went by last night too and wondered why they were closed on a Thursday night.....Another one bites the dust. Hope someone notified the Choir.

Hmmm...interesting.

NOT so sure what is happening tonight. I did send Trailer Choir a note asking them to confirm the status of the show tonight.

Why people waste time to do extended research to find out public facts about bar transitions, band changes, just to make individuals look ridiculous and flaunt their so called intellegence and claravoyance is beyond me. We checked out Mustang Sallyz Sat. night. Great place and we ran into Arthur!

However, why don't line dancers ever clap? Caliber is a fine band, but lousy sound from the board, and the dancers act like they're
not even there. As a musician, I always found that discouraging. Yep, I'm better off with the blues.

We also visited Kent State. I love walking around something I teach. I will never let them forget!

Mustang Salliz is ALL that.
New, sparkly, organized, great parking, plenty of staff, A-1 ladies room, humongous dance floor, big screens, fancy lights...but horrible sound.

I am confident Caliber is BETTER than they sounded.
Mr. Webster is RIGHT...the lack of attention to the band was kinda sad.

Just about everyone near our table, stared at us, when Mr. Webster clapped enthusiastically.

Don't get me wrong...I have ALWAYS had an appreciation for line dancers. This was different.
It was like the "Stepford Wives" were let out for an evening of exercise.

Good Lord...when the band stopped for a break, no one noticed. It was bizarre.

Sunday morning, we went to Kent State.

We go to remember the four dead in OHIO, and pray for PEACE.

We stood where they stood, in somber reflection, knowing they were shot to death by our own government, for no other reason, then being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Mr. Webster rang the bell...the echo gave me chills.

Hey Mr. W and Mrs. W, were you guys both KSU grads? May 4th is traditionally the day of rememberance ( I covered many of them for Ohio's largest newspaper ). Its probably kind of cool to just go there and walk thru the memorial, unmolested by media on the 4th's of May. I plan on taking my sons there to see the history ... the memorial and the bullet holes thru the metal sculpture next to Taylor Hall. We may go this weekend.

Morning Friends and Foes

Welcome to artguy...
Mr. Webster and I ALWAYS stop at the Kent State Memorial, when we are in the area.
Sometimes we are there during the "official" remembrances, other times we are there by ourselves just taking it in.
Neither of us are Kent State alumni.

Some folks won't recognize the NEW photo of the week.
It's one of my own.
The area the students were shot to death is NOW a parking lot.

Looking for professional attitude, experienced bass player capable of a solid pocket. Back-up vocal ability would be a real asset. This project consists of some existing members, some new members, and is a widely known area band. Material consists of modern and new country, and includes southern rock and some classic rock. We all have full time jobs, like to have a lot of fun, but take this music very seriously and not for the money. Practice sessions required, usually weekly. As the project grows some weekend travel may be required. Druggies or alcoholics need not apply. No further info will be available without name and phone number in your response. Hey ya all

We are officially on wedding count-down in Websterville.
It has NOT been without some last minute glitches.

Yesterday, I was feverishly locating another location for the rehearsal dinner.

Ya are NOT gonna believe this one...the venue I have been working with since January abruptly closed some time in past week or so.

The owner sends me this nonchalant email last Thursday night explaining his restaurant is "indeed closed", but I am NOT to fret, cause he has everything under control.

I jetted him an email Friday morning @ 6AM...with the obvious concerns.

We are NOT talking about a rehearsal dinner for eight people. It's closer to 40.

Then I called him on Saturday afternoon...effin voice mail.
Needless to say, the ----head failed to respond to either by yesterday morning.

SOOOO...I sent him another email, sharing my displeasure with words like "wreaks of disaster", "failure to understand", "disappointed", "lack of hospitality", "unacceptable behavior" and "unprofessional".

He finally called me yesterday around noon. By then..I had arranged for the rehearsal dinner at the hotel where the reception is.

Mr. Kelly just didn't get it...he was like "I'm sorry I didn't respond quickly enough for YOU (snotty tone)...it was ONLY a couple of days!".

He mumbled something about he has every intention of honoring his commitment at his or some yet named location.
What an idiot!
Some other location...good luck with that, it's flippen pre-derby.

OK...I am NOT over it yet, even though, it appears I have been able to replicate the menu, and the finer details.

BTW: I sent out press releases regarding this outrageous "snafu". Good Lord...four days before the wedding.
Like this ----, didn't know his restaurant was closing two or three weeks ago.
I am hopeful a reporter tracks down Mr. Kelly and makes his incompetence page "9" news.

It's a good thing my dress fits...cause I had chocolate for dinner.

Well, it looks like ACE's/Brooklyn is history.

Webster, hope your son's wedding day is beautiful and everyone has a great time. Best wishes to the happy couple.

Miss Molly
Thank you for your kind wishes. Tell us more about formerly known as ACE's/Brooklyn.

Ya will NOT believe the trip to Lexington.
I will NEVER fly United again...EVER!
Their attitude towards their customers is from the dark ages.

I was delayed at Chicago O'Hare for nine hours. I didn't get to the hotel here in Lexington until sometime after 11 last night.

I flew down, cause Mr. Webster had a gig at the Galleria with John Lanigan last night.

A beautiful, short service and a fine party. It touched my heart watching her dance with her son to my song.
I've never driven that far alone before!

Sheena Easton is 49 today.

Ace Frehley is 57. KISS!

Morning

Good Lord...still whirling in wedding aftermath.

I am STILL exhausted and somewhat blue.

The mingling of families... northerners and southerns, X-husbands, crazy aunts, and champagned sorority sisters.

It may take days before I feel like myself again.

OKay Web...I realize that it was your son that got married, but have you forgotten the reality of the business that goes on at ANY wedding?? or should I say DRAMA???

I was at a wedding where the mother of the groom DIED after dinner...prior to the bridal dance, cake cutting, all of it.

Was it truly that bad? Bask in the glory of your sons day and let it all go...I know you can!

As far as I know...no one died at my son's wedding.
That would be awful!

Mostly the usual "drama", when ya mingle, two cultures, crazy aunts, x-husbands, and sorority sisters with Kentucky Bourbon and champagne.

The ceremony was sweet...at a country church. Can ya all find Stamping Ground, KY on a map?

My daughter in law is 6 feet tall, my son 6' 8"...they were like bridal magazine models. Picture perfect.

It was a whirlwind and went by so fast, except for the eight plus hours at O'Hare.

Ya know me...I rarely let it all go. I have to analyze every last detail.

Like...I thought it would be interesting to google "United Airlines SUCKS". Didja know there are over 25 websites dedicated to United Airlines SUCKS?
