You'll need to excuse Mrs.W for a bit. I brought the early year cold home, and it hit her hard.

I'm sure she would have Curly Williams and His Georgia Peach Pickers on the front page. They debuted at the Opry today in 1943. I'd put them up, but I don't know how. So, Happy Labor Day 2!

Don Brewer--Grand Funk's drummer

Charlie Sheen--Carlos Irwin Estevez

Beyonce is 26.

Paul Harvey is 89. I think he's reached the last page.

Blackie Lawless is 51. What band?

OK...so I have been thinking about the situation at ACE's.

Have they or have they NOT cancelled Wednesday night Live country?

Ya see...they have been cancelling bands left and right or sending them home packing early for quite a while.

Ya see...after that 1st marathon set dedicated to the line dancers, the place is empty.

Sipping a soda, or guzzling ice water with lemon does NOT pay the bills.

1:37 PM
Blogger Mrs. Webster said...

Am I being witty or vindictive?

Does ACE's plan to implement the same brilliant business model and management style to their new venture in Mentor?

Guess I must be feeling better! Yesterday I felt like I had been hit by the Curtis Brothers tour bus.

2:42 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

You know you talk in riddles Web. If there's something I've done to you why don't you spill the beans. What the Hell are you talking about ? Tour buses, hurricanes, what's the point ? I've done nothing to you. Ace's has been nothing but professional to us. We work with them. If they cancel a date on us so be it. Why does there always have to be a hidden agenda, a slam on a person who don't drink, on and on. Talk about a "betrayal of values". As a recovering alcoholic I find your soda and ice water comment offensive. They're still are human beings who have feelings to. You don't know me, you never will. If you want to hate on me or my band go ahead. I'm sure most everyone would disregard your slander anyway. Besides the 4 or 5 people who still care to post on your blog. Freedom of Speech - Rock on Web.

Ruby....hate to say it, but obviously you still care about what is said and discussed on this site because you obviously check it OFTEN...perhaps daily even? Get over it.

Your disdain for Mrs. comment about water and soda drinkers is ludicrous (sp?). Dude, its the truth...if you want to get paid by a bar, the bar has to make money...and drinkers pay and pay and pay. Get off your high horse and jump on the reality bus.

Oh...and if you don't like us so much...just walk away.

HRumPH...mean people suck.

Anonymous Anonymous said...

No beer- Point well taken. Yes I do care about what is said on here, being most of it is about my peers in the local music biz. And I check it more than once daily BTW. So do some members of my family. I have no disdain for people who drink. I know a soda doesn't cost as much as shot of Jagermeister, I've been through the gates of Hell with alcholism. Lost my family, my health, my money, most of all my soul. I see it on a weekly basis, and it gives me good reminders of where I came from, and how much I've achieved since I put the plug in the bottle. That aside, I see where the real money in bars is generated. I'm not that naive. It's just something that is personal to me. So I will ride my high horse proudly and continue my daily One Day At A Time ritual. And as always I will make a valiant effort not to betray my values and keep my integrity in tact. I'm sure if the Webs would meet me in person, much like they did when Hardy was going through his slam phase they might find out I'm not such a bad guy after all. I don't try to change people, I prefer to be friends with everyone I meet. So thanks No Beer for your observation and thoughts, it gave me something to ponder about my emotions and wearing my heart on my sleeve. I guess it's not all that important now is it ?
Jay

You and Hardy are two very different people to the Webs Ruby.
NoBeer- I have to agree with you. Web is not lamming non drinkers but face the facts.. bars run for the alcohol they sell. Non drinkers or drinkers doesnt matter everyone is entitled to do as they choose in THEIR lives Its really no one else's business. No one should come on here to attack anyone unless they are defending themselves. Hell I defend the Webs they are good people always have been. I defend 90% of the people on here I know personally and will continue to do so. Nobeer and Hardy and Molly.. Ill defend 'em all. Ya dont like lol too fkn bad!! Ok Im done let me get off my high horse LOL

9:58 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Nakked - Ok I get it. I'm done for now. I still don't understand the hurricane thing and it's purpose, but so be it. It is what it is. Web is persistent in her convictions. I kinda respect her for that. I still believe if you knew me Nakked you'd have another friend, disagreements or not. Come out and meet me some time. No animosity with anyone on this blog, but I do have my opinions and feel the right to defend myself when I feel I've been personally slammed or made fun of.
Dismounting from the high horse now. Left my ego at the door. Think I'll go into the saloon and have a sasparilla.

10:13 AM
Blogger Molly said...

Nakked, glad to hear you got my back. LOL

I do not personally know Jay (have introduced myself to him, but that's it) so I have nothing to contribute about these posts, other than I agree that Web wasn't slamming non-drinkers. It was a remark purely from a business point of view. The few times I've been in Ace's recently, it's been terribly DEAD. Actually walked in late one evening and didn't even stay for one drink because there was no one in there. What fun is that? So I went somewhere else that had people to actually socialize with. Guess everyone should be glad for the line dancers; at least the place is packed for the first set no matter who the band is. Colin Dussault always plays a 2-hour first set and that's what I consider "marathon". It's a great way to keep people from leaving but even then, when they take that first break, the place starts clearing out, no matter the bar.

Ruby...

I can empathize with you on the alcohol issue, because I recently lost my 55 year old aunt due to "severe organ damage and cyrossis (sp?) of the liver due to long term excessive ethanol abuse" she was not as lucky as you to ever realize that she was an alcoholic. I respect you for your convictions and your dedication to remaining sober...that rocks. Just remember not to condemn those of us who can and do socially drink.

Its not so much in my message to you that I was defending anyone, just wanted to express what I thought, and this venue lets us ALL do it.

Visit often Jay, and if I should run into you any time soon (or later) in the non-cyber world I would be happy to sit and chat a while...over my cocktail, and your sasparilla!

Thanks no beer. I don't think I can visit that much however. I'm in the eye of a hurricane now- looks like a Category 5. Actually I'll buy you a drink and I'll have a coffee or Iced tea instead of sasparilla. How's that sound ? Would love to meet ya.
Dream still goes on. Friends are good things. Buy the way I have no issues with people who drink. That is unless they spill their beer on my $300 pedal board.
Then we have problems.

I try to stay as far away from karoake as I can for that very reason...too many terrible renditions of most songs. However, I must say that Amy from Hayshaker Jones did "Crazy" to perfection at Twilight at the Zoo. Kudos to her - she has an AWESOME voice. Local country music could use more female singers like Amy.

"Stagepass": you state "All this blog is good for is taking shots at people and whining." You fit right in, then. And if this is the first time you've checked out the blog (highly unlikely), where have you been? It's been around a while now and EVERYONE has been here and continues to read, at the very minimum. UT-OH...the Curtis Brothers blog is in a purple haze.

Still confused about Mentor ACE's. Is it ACE's or Iron Cowboy Saloon?

Ummm...given our harrowing winter escapades, on 90, in the middle of the night, smack dab in the harshest part of the "snowbelt", Mr. Webster no longer accepts gigs "out that way", in the winter, unless we have booked a hotel in advance.

Here's why...trying to find a hotel, @ 2AM in two feet of snow is an added aggravation, and without reservations...they gouge for a hundred bucks.

OK...NOT all is well in Websterville.

We have moved into separate bedrooms...and the children are caught in the middle.
She sighs!

NAH...the honeymoon is NOT over! Our vintage waterbed, circa 1978, is kaput!
We have used every single towel in the house.

There are buckets at the four corners of the bed...and a garden hose hanging out the bedroom window.

Gabriel, our Persian King cat is signaling, he would like a passport out of Websterville.

Baby Bennett, our kitten, had the audacity to curl up on Gabe's perch.

There is evidence that the two of them may have settled their differences on our waterbed.

NOT sure if "off the record" still applies a year later.
