Well, I guess I finally got it now on how to log on correctly. Guess it really shouldn't have been that hard seeing as I don't have a life according to some people. LOL I should have made more time to learn this new Blogger.

Anyway, no Web, I'm not suprised at all. The comments on the Ace's guestbook are OBVIOUSLY coming out of Texas, somewhere down South. That's the "type" the band attracts. Ignorance begets ignorance.

GO CAVS! What an awesome game!

What's the scoop with Ace's last night? The band was a no-show? The bar was NOT happy.

1:18 PM
Blogger Mrs. Webster said...

Molly

I don't know what happened with Roadhouse/ACE's last night.

Roadhouse was scheduled to appear @ the Rockin Horse Entertainment Complex/Erie County Fairgrounds earlier in the day.

I have a contact...I'll just ask?

3:39 PM
Blogger Molly said...

Well, according to the Ace's manager, Roadhouse just blew them of Sat. night. Just because they had another gig during the day is no excuse. However, it was probably for the best because of the Cavs game. A phone call saying they weren't showing up would have been a nice gesture though.

6:29 PM
Blogger Mrs. Webster said...

Of Course...

I have a different version of what happened. It would be best described as a miscommunication.

My understanding is there was a telephone discussion or voice mail earlier in the day about the CAVS game.
It will forever be a he said/she said/he said.

Anyone who disses Ace's fave band gets deleted right away. Seems to have been that way all along. Just shows that they have a deaf ear - in more ways than one. I haven't been to the website since last week...who needs all the b.s.? Did stop in to the bar late Sat. night and no one had the nerve to come up to say how much they can't stand me...figured they wouldn't though. Just a whole lot of talk from nameless/faceless/spineless individuals going on in that guestbook.

Everyone is welcome to be part of the conversation. Yeppers...logging on is NOT easy. Offenders of multiple screen names have the most difficulty. The official members of the SOT squad may NEVER figure it out. LOL!

The Roadhouse "story" from last week is STILL bugging me. I don't know why...suppose it's someone is NOT telling the truth.

As ya can plainly see, I didn't get to the Friday night country. Sometimes, life gets in the way!

Hey, I have the Friday mag at home...haven't had time to look at it though. I thought it was just an article on the country concerts coming to the area, i.e., Tim/Faith, Chesney, etc. I haven't heard any announcement on the Jam yet but isn't it usually in June? I would think it's coming soon but I haven't even heard any kind of "build up" on WGAR.

It'll be over on Brookpark Rd. inside the hotel on the South side of the street, just west of the 480 entrance/exit between 130th and 150th. NOT a surprise some of the ACE's "regulars" didn't care for Silver Spur...

Oh and someone thinks the Curtis Brothers are NOT all that!

How long will the posts last on the ACE's guestbook?

So far it's OK to spout off about any band except__________.

MAY.be
Silver Spur will receive a mystery voice mail cancelling them the next time around...and then they can be banished.

7:56 PM
Blogger Molly said...

Funny how that is - "diss" any band and the posts remain there for all to see....except one....Ace's wants everyone to believe only one band is worthy...

Silver Spur is just the nicest bunch of guys. They just play fast. Gotta keep up!

Enjoyed the review of the bands on the Ace's website. I agree with most of the observations of this anonymous person. And I liked the description of "cheesy" for The Curtis Bros. lol NOT all the time, of course. But the last time I saw them, NOT too fond of the "Just A Gigolo" rendition. Other than that, I've always enjoyed hearing them.

Molls

Would you be talking about this?...

June 19, 2007 4:42 PM EDT
Name:
Comments: List of overall best country bands-music and entertainment factored in. 1. Lawless - they have the complete package. 2. Curtis Brothers - Again the whole package, just a little too cheesy sometimes. 3. Kentucky Thunder - although a sloppy stage appearance, their music is just as good as the top 2, if not sometimes better. 4. Black River - the workhorse band of the group. 5. Tony Rio and Relentless - Very accomplished, just not a huge fan. 6. Backwoods - if you like the old country, Foot is it period. 7. Conestoga - excellent all around, just a bit hokey at points. 8. Laredo - High energy-trendy songs, just doesn't have the voices or musicians to match the rest. Their hardwork keeps them around. 9. North of Texas - could be amazing if they ever got one version of the band together for more then two shows. 10. Heartland - see above.

"Watermellon Crawl"

Paula Abdul turns a lovely 45 today.

It's "Watermelon" with one L.

I don't do it every night either. Only if they plead and bitch enough. I also get to do "Sweet Child of Mine", "Purple Rain", Shook Me All Night Long" and "My Girl".

It's gotta be better than 4 or 8 bar blues in the same 2 keys all night long.

Honey, I can assure you...Mr. Webster can spell "watermelon", ya know he can NOT type.

Wooooo--Touchy! Actually I meant "Sexy Tractir."

Yeah, I have to do that stuff;but I also get to do Al Green ,ZZ Top, Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Stones, Stevie Ray, Janis, Doobie Bros., Talking Heads, Wilson Pickett, and "Sea Cruise."

See why I'm better off with the blues?

Terry Funk is 63 today.

see that's what you get at ace's and any other country bar for that matter ace's canceled us too and now we don't even rate their ratings for bands! not that we care! it's too bad that just good music isn't enough what aces means by their rating is this band brings the most money and this other band brings in the 2nd most and so on!

4:11 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

It's "Tractor" with an O.

I get to play the Doobie Brothers as well as Ozzy Osbourne and Aerosmith. Sure we have to throw that stuff in sometimes, but we play what we like as well.

Thanks for stopping back in.
I don't know who the author of the list is...and it really doesn't matter.
EVERYONE has their favorite and their own list.
77 South as well as Roadhouse don't NEED ACE's, ya all had a full schedule without them.
In addition, to my knowledge, your band (77 South), is the ONLY "country" band that has crossed over to a weekend gig at The Savannah.

nobeerhere
My feathers are NOT ruffled...as I stated above, EVERYONE has their favorite and their own list.
The bottom line is they are ALL bar bands, working the same clubs,
playing the same songs...trying to convince themselves they are the NEXT great thing.

John--Sorry, I thought it was "Folsome Prison Blues>"

An open question--Could a country band that plays line danceable old country songs make it here in Cleveland? Not the new stuff, but songs everybody remembers that accomodate the dancers. Or do we all need to hear the same tired tunes from every band?
Let me know.

The future King of England turns 25 today.

Top Ten ways to tell if your band isn't cool: 10: you all wear cowboy hats for photos no matter how ridiculous you look 9:You call your sound man tweakster 8:You wear shirts with no sleeves 7:You undercut prices to get gigs 6:Your bassist joke about being a child molester 5:Your named after a tire 4:You constantly tell everyone how great you are 3: your front man looks like Larry The Cable Guy 2:You organize fund raisers so you can headline 1:You always talk about the other bands behind their back ,deny it and say why can't we get along.

But ummmm...didn't.

Comments: Don’t insult my readers. They are the most intelligent folks I know, next to our esteemed President, Mr. George W. Bush. And as for Lawless, well, they’re just the best thing I’ve heard since Toby Keith. My love-hate relationship with jdg makes for good publicity. And for the record, I support Aces even though I make and encourage negative comments about the bar and its patrons. It’s a dichotomy. I know that word because I have a Masters degree. Look it up if you aren’t as well-versed as I.

Ahhhhh...I wonder if the author of this remembers they authored this.

Got that right. Band bashers = Sex starved females that have no social life whatsoever, that demand the attention of local musicians because they can't get the attention that they think they deserve from co-workers, they're usually ugly as hell and weigh- in just slightly under the average orca whale.

The problem with the fake Webster post. She would not have said her readers are the most intelligent people she knows. We all know, all the "campers" read. Some of the of those "campers" are not the brightest crayons in the box.

Well, well, well!
For the first time in a long time I have to disagree with John & Mark. Not only can it be done, I'm still doing it! Granted, I do "the Crawl" on occasion, but I still stick with songs I like and in general don't hate myself for playing! I'm even going back into my Rebound Band collection to brush up on an old David Ball song they're dancing to. It's kind of odd watching them line dance to Waylon and Merle, but they're DANCING!

Mr. Web, I'm shocked that you would ask such a question since you already know the answer! You're going to help me prove it once again this Wednesday aren't you?

RELENTLESS NEWS...copied from their newsletter.

"Girl of my Dreams" is the #8 most requested song on 98.3 "The Bull"!!!!

That's #8 OVERALL. Up against George Strait, Brad Paisley, Montgomery Gentry and just behind Alan Jackson!! This all started out as basically a favor!
98.3 agreed to give us a chance by starting out playing the song every once in a while during the overnight hours. From that point, thanks to many requests, it worked it's way into drive-time and has continued to gain popularity and airtime. We can't even begin to tell you how excited we are and how much we appreciate all of you who have called in and requested our music. I heard it's getting played as much as twice an hour!!

Great to see you Sat. night. Actually my son called and asked if I wanted to go see Lawless and my grandsons at the same time. I didn't hesitate. My grandsons are my life and they don't know it yet but will become avid country music fans! They loved you by the way. Of course, what's not to love? Got some great pictures. See you soon.

Foot--It will be my pleasure to join you Weds. at Ace's. I will gladly spend their money on vacation. I know Backwoods is the one true purveyor of real country in Cleveland. I meant no disrespect to a fine heritage I am proud to be a part of. I relish the opportunities you give me to play the real deal. Can we do "Lonesome,Ornery, and Mean" Wednesday?

Three musicians so far. Any dancers?

Mrs. Webster--Thank you for creating a MySpace for me! I always wanted one but didn't have a clue. You are my sweetie!

Jeff Beck is 63 today.

Unfortunately, I'll be outta town on Wed., but please do Lonesome,Ornery, and Mean. I'll be there in spirit.

Monday already?

Today could prove to be interesting...the "humidity" is rolling in. It could be sticky and VERY uncomfortable by mid-week.

The ACE's guestbook is STILL intact. Has ACE's forgotten their password, changed their policy or is the guestbook administrator "unavailable"?

Interestingly, the posts, writing style, and vernacular/verbiage are WAY too familiar...and in my opinion, are NOT the usual suspects.

Went to the Rock Hall for the first time in about four years today. Lots of new stuff and missing cool older stuff. I was with a high school freshman who had never heard of David Bowie or The Ramones. Hank Wiliiams,he had no clue. This boy needs to take Pop Culture!
It's now $20 to get in.

George Michael is 44 today, and Carly Simon is 62!

Mr. Webster gave the tour to the in-laws at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I bet it was awesome!
I REMEMBER the first time he took me.

Speaking of Mr. Webster...he's a PROFESSIONAL nice guy. See above.
You are the sweety pie that I married. Love you.

We support ACE's for the opportunity it provides.
We have always supported the venue, despite it's shortcomings, and the necessity to issue frequent warnings to carry anti-bacterial lotion in your purse.

Mr. Webster is practicing Watermelon Crawl, and Lonesome,Ornery, and Mean.

JDg...is a nuance of the blog. Yeppers, I have chatted with JDg. I suppose this is the part about our love-hate relationship.
UMMM...We love em.

Get out and see the guitars...it's free! Support downtown...before it goes away.

Mr. Webster played country with JOY...always a treat!

timj and I were civil...
I guess I can embrace the concept, although it cracks me up.

Molly and I had A margarita to acknowledge the humidity, and toasted to fab vacations.

Web, you are correct. I'm leaving tomorrow morning and today will drag on and on, I'm sure. It didn't help matters that my washing machine decided to quit working last night. Nothing like going to the laundromat at 10 PM! Not to mention the $2 per load! At least I didn't have to pay to dry. lol

Be sure and check out Dixie Fryed at Fatboys this weekend. Real country as it should be.
