Mr. Webster, your verbal adversary is unwise to challenge an educator in grammar. It sounds to me like he (or she) is bringing a knife to a gunfight.

I'm sure we've crossed paths before, albeit years ago. I am one of the (few) Northeast Ohio musicians who has never performed in HEARTLAND (can Butkiewicz even use that name now? I thought an up-and-coming national act was using the name, but I may be wrong about this).

I sure hope the Ohio Legislature exempts family-owned bars and private clubs from this stupid smoking ban. It has really hurt live music!

Hi Mr. Webster...hard to believe, but Conestoga has been around since April 1996. Of course, we have gone through a few personnel changes during the past twelve years (maybe not as many as some bands), but I feel fortunate - I've been with the same drummer for 13 years (our collaboration predates Conestoga) and we now have two great lead players that can switch off (one on fiddle, one on acoustic). Oh...the electric / acoustic guy is also a pretty good lead vocalist. Where have you been performing lately? I'll try to get out when I get a night off.

aspring COUNTRY MALE singers - listen up! opportunity knocks!
posted: August 10, 2008, 11:04 PM

on August 24th from 1-6 pm my awesome country friends along with my band Bottleneck and holding a fund raiser for me Bill K. at the Dirty Cowboy in Medina. I have to travel from Medina to Houston TX every 3 weeks for a cancer treatment - yea, its a trial drug and they can't do it anywhere around here. On stage will be Tony Rio and Relentless / Lawless / Laredo / The Chrome Plated Cowboys / and my band Bottleneck. We all play a 45 minute set. Here's the deal ... the former singer in my band has says he just can't help me out ( family obligations I guess - pretty stand up dude ). I need a singer that can get together with us and rehearse 2 times and be expected to sing 10 songs - standard stuff. We'll do probably 12-15 songs, but I will sing a couple too. There is no pay, but given the amount of local country talent that will be floating around that afternoon, if you have any desire to sing in a country band, consider this an outstanding opportunity for a 45 minute audition. no one is gettin paid - all volunteer effort and I love these guys for it. Here's the deal - do not call if you are not good. Halfway decent, OK. we aren't perfect - we don't have time to be screwing around - if you come out to rehearse and sing 2 songs and you don't get it - you go - we'll do it on our own. We don't have time to be workin on key changes, etc. either. Be serious - evaluate your talent before you email me - this is a chance to get a great audition in - don't blow it - be good. thanks. let me know. check out www.bottleneckcountry.com and it will take you to our myspace site. the three guys without the hat are it ... the "cowboy" is out. I am at the far right. efrain is the drummer, left. and charlie plays bass. you don't need and instrument - we prefer not - this has to be down and dirty and fast. thanks. ps. I will provide cheat sheets ( words ) God knows! I use em all the time. Too old and dumb to remember it all dudes. LOL.

Curtis Brothers Band seek keyboardist and/or lead vocalist
posted: August 21, 2008, 10:38 AM

CURTIS BROTHERS BAND SEEK KEYBOARDIST AND/OR LEAD VOCALIST

The Curtis Brothers Band, popular Northeast Ohio group, seek keyboardist for a full time position. Vocal abilities and/or multi instrument talents (acoustic, lead or rhythm guitar) are an added plus, but not necessarily required for this gig.

We in all likelihood are also going to be auditioning lead vocalists (male or female) to complete a 5 piece band. Vocalists who play an instrument (especially acoustic, lead or rhythm guitar) is also an added plus, but not necessarily required for the gig. Must be able to understand and sing harmony vocals efficiently !

Our genre is classified as “country” both current and classic, but we have a vast song list and play just about anything as the situation or venue calls for it. This is not specifically all country - we perform everything from Merle Haggard to Pink Floyd.

We only desire individuals who are professional, dedicated, and responsible. Must be available to perform 4 to 8 times per month mostly on weekends, but occasionally on weeknights. Must be able to rehearse an average of once a week, and be prepared !

We practice in the Brunswick area, and perform mostly on the southwest side of Cleveland, and occasionally distances of up to
75 miles at certain venues.

Alcohol and drug problems will not be tolerated. Overwhelming personal problems, egos, tardiness, anything else that distracts from being a dedicated band member will be frowned upon as well.

Individuals must own professional equipment, reliable transportation to rehearsals and shows, professionalism, dedication, and of course talent.

We have many venues and shows booked or on hold, so you must be able to learn a ton of songs very quickly, and be ready to go as soon as possible !

Your pay will be good. We own our own sound system and have little overhead.

If you fit this criteria as a keyboardist and/or lead vocalist and are interested, please reply and list your talents, previous experience, equipment, etc. and include name and phone number and we will contact you for an audition.

To learn more about us please visit :

Lead guitarist wanted for a country music band. This is a start up band. Already have Drums, Rhythm, 2nd Lead and bassist. This is for Modern and classic country. So you must know country. If you don't know any country don't reply. When you do reply send a list of a few songs that you do know. This is for male or female. If you can also sing great, but you must play instrument.

At the risk of raising the satirical ire of the management, let me say that Sunday at Dirty Cowboys was a good time. It was fun seeing so many fine musicians in one room, getting to meet many of them for the first time so as to put a face to a name.

Dirty Cowboys did a great job hosting, the sound was great, crowd was fun, I know I had a great time, for a good cause.
